Absolutely spectacular stay. This place is everything the photos promise and then some. Waking up to the ocean literally right there never got old (we tried, we really did).
The house is gorgeous and had everything we needed. Beautiful spaces inside and out, and the whole setup just works.
Communication was seamless, check in was smooth, and the space was immaculate. Cannot recommend highly enough. See you next time!

Our stay at Casa Calixta was exceptional. It is an absolutely gorgeous, spacious house - the master bathroom is absolutely huge with indoor and outdoor bathing spaces I absolutely loved. My wife couldn’t have been happier with the enormous and unique bathing experience. The view from the kitchen and pool is gorgeous, looking out on a vast wide beach. Theres a world class restaurant in a beautiful hotel just a hundred or so meters walk down the beach. It is such a beautiful and secluded space, out of the fray of Puerto Escondido, and yet just a quick trip to the main strip. We loved it and couldn’t have asked for more from our stay. Thanks for everything!

From checking in to the check out, Daniel went above and beyond to ensure it was a smooth process. He gave us some great local recommendations for restaurants all of which were amazing. This Villa is beyond magical. The most perfect location with everything you could possibly ask for. The bedrooms are generously large and the pool is to die for! We watched whales every morning from the pool you could not ask for a better Villa. Being directly on the beach is next level and does not compare to anything else. I would recommend this place to everyone I know. I will be coming back every year!!!

¡Tuve una estancia fantástica en Casa Calixta! Era mi primera vez en La Barra, y fue un placer estar lejos del bullicio de La Punta y Zicatela, y a la vez a un corto trayecto en coche. Fuimos al pueblo una vez a comer pizza en The Boneyard, pero nos quedamos casi en casa porque era muy tranquilo.
La casa era perfecta: ¡más camas de las que pude llenar con amigos, y vistas increíbles por toda la casa! Disfrutamos de un surf de 10/10, una barbacoa y una fogata en la playa con un atardecer espectacular, seguido de dos masajistas increíbles en la casa. Sinceramente, no podría haber sido un día más perfecto.
¡Sin duda volveré a alquilar el año que viene!

Absolutely stunning beach villa with exceptional taste in art and design. This is not your standard, run-of-the-mill Airbnb with generic IKEA décor. You can clearly feel the love, care, and thought the owner put into every detail of this property. There is so much to explore, and the entire space feels both inspiring and inviting.
The owner was incredibly helpful and even connected us with a local guide for a sunset horseback ride on the beach an unforgettable experience. He also shared great restaurant recommendations, all of which were spot-on. We especially loved the mezcal selection available in the house.
The villa is perfect for larger groups or families, but it is equally ideal for couples looking for a uniquely romantic getaway with the option to sleep in a different beautifully designed bedroom each night.
We will definitely be back!

This was my first time staying in La Barra and I’m so glad I chose it — way more my style than the chaos of La Punta and the super touristy vibe in Zicatela. The area feels laid-back and local, but still close enough if you want to go explore.
We did horse rides, pool hangs, and caught one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. One afternoon we walked down to the river and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip. It was simple, quiet, and really beautiful. The house was a great home base for all of it and everything felt easy and relaxed while we were there.
I’d definitely stay here again.
